Many families and friends will feast on hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad,  corn on the cob, and many other potluck delights.  Are you aware of what you are buying? Is it the best choice for your recipe or dish? Do you or any of your guests follow a gluten-free lifestyle? Let me help you make some healthier choices for your firework festivities.

Better Baked Beans

We all have our own unique recipes for baked beans. Are you aware of what is in your canned baked beans for your recipe? Do you know how much sugar is present per serving in the canned beans you are using? Are they gluten-free for those concerned?

Sugar can be a main ingredient in canned or jarred baked beans.  If you are cooking a recipe with canned beans and adding more sugar or molasses, make sure your canned beans are lower in sugar or add less sugar or molasses to your recipe. Here is my of gluten-free beans.

Bush’s Baked Beans (Baked and Grillin’ Beans included) has a range of 11 -16 grams of sugar and 380-550 milligrams of sodium per serving. No high fructose corn syrup in any of their beans. Bush Baked Beans are Gluten Free. Pick the Vegetarian style if you are avoiding meat.
